Hands Across the Sand – Don’t Risk the Rock!

Join us for music, information, art and a photo shoot of us holding hands along the Rock River, part of the world-wide, anti-pollution HandsAcrossTheSand.org effort. We’ll provide the music, percussion instruments, hula hoops, critter hats and more to make a joyful sound in defense of the Rock River.

Don’t risk the Rock!

The Rock River is endangered by a planned new Enbridge tar sands pipeline. The Canadian company Enbridge could build another 42″ diameter pipeline to carry tar sands oil, the dirtiest of fuels, from Superior, WI to Flanagan, IL. It would cross the Rock River just north of Lake Koshkonong. A rupture there could pollute the Rock for many miles, reaching to Janesville. Arise Now and the City of Janesville are investing over $42 million in private and public money to renovate and revitalize the downtown and the Rock. Another pipeline would jeopardize our hopeful future.
